As an added highlight of our annual Home & Garden Tour, we are including some of the most important public gardens in our area:  Weymouth, Campbell House, and Sandhills Horticultural Gardens.  We hope that all of our visitors will gain a better understanding of the key role our landscape has played in the development of this community, of our shared reverence for this unique micro-climate, and our ongoing respect for the local environment.

Drawing close to our 70th year of demonstrating this respect for our local landscape, the Southern Pines Garden Club is urging our tour-goers to include such highlights as the Weeping Cherry Trees of Weymouth's historic gardens, the innovative use of native species within the award-winning Sandhills Horticultural Gardens, and the romance of the azalea plantings surrounding Campbell House.

Here are few highlights we are planning in conjunction with these destinations:

An exhibit of original art will feature watercolor landscape paintings, while local artists will be painting in the surrounding gardens.

The annual Weymouth Plant Sale will run from 9 until noon and feature plants propagated from the historic Weymouth Gardens, as well as local favorites and rare species.  Visitors are encouraged to tour the grounds of Weymouth and experience the dramatic weeping cherry trees that line the garden. The Country Bookshop will be present with a selection of gardening books for sale  and a special book-signing by a noted author. Present your Tour ticket for a discount on purchases.

From 9 until noon, the Sandhills Horticultural Society will be having their annual plant sale adjacent to the Gardens, with plants and shrubs propagated from the Garden's own award-winning stock.  The Gardens, covering 27 acres, are open from dawn until sunset and offer an educational adventure to anyone with an interest in plants, nature and design composition.
